Jesús

Jesús is 52. He has diabetes and high blood pressure, and six years ago he had surgery for a hernia.

He owns an old pickup and uses it to run a transport service up into the mountains, with his son’s help. Fourteen years ago, in an attack that grew out of rivalry over work, he was shot at close range. He spent several months in a coma in hospital and survived, as he has survived other serious road accidents.

His disability has limited the work he can do. For more than ten years he has had problems in his mouth caused by the loss of most of his teeth.
