Carlos

Carlos has spent almost all his life growing maize and beans. He is from Julupe, one of the 11 cantons in the municipality of Chiltiupán, which also include El Zonte. At 64 he has arterial hypertension, high cholesterol and problems with his sight.

A few years ago a motorcycle accident left him with severe injuries to his back and legs, and the effects will stay with him for the rest of his life. He takes medication for arthritis and for headaches. He has been without teeth for more than a decade and, for lack of money, had not had access to dental rehabilitation.
