Arcely

Arcely is 50 and has had ten children. Her seventh daughter, who had a disability, has died. Her father was one of the longest lived people in the community and died at 107, and her mother is 75.

Arcely says that, as in the rest of her family’s history, she has been without teeth and without proper dental care for more than 15 years. At diagnosis she also had malnutrition and severe bone loss in the upper and lower jaw.

The hope of getting her smile back, she says, was the last thing she was going to lose.
