Amelia

Amelia is 62. She has spent her life running the household and raising her five children, three of whom are still living.

She was never able to finish school, and formal work has been almost impossible to find. She helps out now and then caring for other people or washing clothes, but her resources are very limited, and for years the lack of money kept her from the treatment she needed.

She lost many of her teeth early in life, and for more than a decade she had serious problems with the ones that remained.

At her most recent dental examination the clinic found severe periodontitis, which was destroying bone and loosening her teeth. Fourteen teeth had to be extracted, and the procedure improved the health and appearance of her gums.

The treatment was paid for with donations in Bitcoin. Amelia now has a new smile, and it means a great deal to her.
