Alberto

Alberto is 77 and has given almost all of his life to farming. He also keeps cattle to get by. In the 1990s he worked as a gardener for former president Calderón Sol (1994 to 1999), who helped him get into hospital for a prostate operation.

All of his children have emigrated to the United States in search of a better future.

He has been without teeth for 30 years and could only try to chew with the one lower left canine he had left. “I’ll never forget who helped me with my new smile. Thanks for helping me chew,” Alberto told us.
