Doña Marta

Doña Marta is 63 and a mother of four. She supports them by selling snacks on the beach. She never learned to read or write.

She had a hysterectomy after a suspected tumour, and she lives with high blood pressure. For decades she also had serious problems with her mouth. “It is hard living with oral issues,” she said.

The clinic found chronic infection, retained roots, bone and tooth loss, and heavy plaque and tartar. Fourteen teeth were extracted and her gums were restored throughout. After nearly three months of work, patience and healing, Doña Marta has her smile back, paid for with donations in Bitcoin.
